In Case You Were Wondering ... Houston...
Thankfully I have only suffered voluntary evacuation...No Electric...Street Flooded...House so far No Water...

Nothing compared to many close by and local areas

Still in threat of 2 nearby dams burstin/ overspilling...

If Dams...reservoirs and local rivers etc hold...hopefully back to normal within a few days...in Time for next Hammers' game...

Thanks Mex for your kind thoughts. Although I've lost my apartment and contents I'm safe thanks to FEMA and friends. When I was in survival mode it's amazing how your priorities change. I found a working pen in a bathroom in the GRM and it became my most precious asset after my passport and US social security details. It meant I could write stuff on my hand rather than try and remember it! I also had a working IPad for a few days and checking on WHO kept my sane amongst the turmoil. Thank you all!!

I hope you get your power back soon Texas! I picked up a new phone from AT&T yesterday and a friend at work is going to give me an old IPad she has. Strange how important these things become! Im staying in a local hotel thanks to FEMA till the 26th if necessary. My car is stuck (safely I hope) in the complex garage. Back to work tomorrow which is ok as itll give me something else to think about! Like everyone, I just want to get things back to normal.

As with the Somerset Levels, this disaster is caused by out of control building on flood plains. Absolutely nuts.

May get power back in 48 hrs..

Many houses around me wiped out on ground floor..

My luck I bought the highest lot in the neighbourhood...by a few feet...but enough to prevent flooding inside.

Hope you get settled soon Wasser...

I just don't know what the world's coming to.

A bit of light drizzle and the septic nation goes into meltdown...SWT & hugs, natch.

Be lucky Tex, be lucky Wasser - floods are not nice - not the ones I've experienced, anyway.

Re: In Case You Were Wondering ... Houston...
Glad you're ok Tex Iron. I'm on the Energy Corridor on Memorial near Eldridge. My ground floor apartment started to flood on Sunday so evacuated to Level 4 where I watched the water continue to rise in my old apartment. I was advised by friends to register with FEMA which I did. Mandatory evacuation on Tuesday. The 'rescue' boat taking us to dry land sank within seconds when the crazy redneck driving increased the speed and the bow wave entered the boat. I can confirm the water was shoulder height when I got rerescued but my phone and IPad got soaked. Got taken to the GRB Convention center downtown where I was able to get a meal and dry clothes. Moved yesterday to a hotel close to where I live but won't get back as they are relieving the Addicts reservoir into my area for the next two weeks. I can't praise FEMA and the rescue services enough. The hotel receptionist has given me his spare phone to use till I can get another one. As for the British Embassy? Their website says they will be open at 9am on Monday..wtf...there were other nation Embassy reps galore helping their countrymen at the GRB but nobody from the British Embassy. No emergency number for help nothing but a number in New York totally fucking no help at all. Two things I kept in my possession were my US social security number (which allowed me to Register for FEMA) and my British passport. Guess which one I value the most at this time! I left a sarcastic msg on their website. Wasser
